Team Aquahub participates in Big Blue Swim Meet: Sam Camilleri registers Age group record.

Eighteen swimmers from Aquahub swimming club Malta – recently took part in the 10th Edition of the Trofeo Big Blue Swimming Competition which was held between the 1st and 2nd of March 2025 in Rome, Italy.

The competition spread over two exciting days in a 25m indoor pool managed by Federazione Italiana Nuoto (FIN) where a record number of italian swimmers took part with Aquahub being the only foreign non-Italian club competing.

Sam Camilleri, one of the club’s shining stars broke the 1500m record with a time of 16.26.89 which bagged him a Gold medal in the event.

The other swimmers registered personal bests and gained valuable experience in the tough competition throughout.

Thanks to partial funding by Sport Malta, Aquahub’s participation in this foreign event helped its swimmers gain further confidence and inner strength when in a different environment while broadening their perspectives in the sport.

Head Coach Julian Harding who accompanied the team said that the competition at this meet was fierce but a great opportunity for the swimmers to gain further experience amongst 800 total athletes. He said that the trip brought the team together both in the pool and out of the pool.
