Focus on our swimmer Nirvana Micallef
Eighteen year old Nirvana Micallef bagged her first individual medal in the Games of the Small Nations held in Andorra at the end of May in the tough 200 butterfly event with a time of 2.23.94 – a personal best!
This was the second appearance of Nirvana at the GSSE games when she got a bronze in the 100 Medley relay in the Malta edition of the GSSE in 2023 when she performed the 100butterfly part of the event.
A butterfly-stroke specialist Nirvana has been under the firm coaching hand of Head Coach Julian Harding for the past five years where her advancement in the sport has seen great results.
Her second medal in the Andorra Games was in another relay event where her performance helped the ladies team garner another Silver medal in the 4×100 freestyle relay event.
In total the Andorra games proved a success for the lady swimmers with two gold, three silver and one bronze medal.
Looking forward onto the next events and next GSSE in Monaco (2027) Nirvana said she will continue to work hard with the same committment she has been showing in the past years despite a full-on study life!
